Although everyone claims that content is king, the truth is that there a lot of blogs out there that have great content but never get more than a handful of readers each month, if any at all.

The problem in many cases is that these blogs are just not accessible or searchable. Let’s face it, even if your blog does get indexed in Google, what are your chances of making it to the top search results as a new blog? Unless you already have a very wide online circle, there’s no way that you’ll get that much traffic from the major search engines, at least until your blog gets older and starts to rank better. In the meantime, you’re still left with the problem of growing your readership in as little time as possible.

One way to help get more traffic to come to your blog is by taking advantage of niche search engines. Instead of having to compete with countless sites on mainstream search engines like Google, targeting the users of niche search engines will automatically narrow down the competition.

A good niche search engine for blogs you might want to check out is the Blog Search Engine. The Blog Search Engine is an easy way to promote your blog without having to worry about rankings and SEO. All you need to do is submit your blog details and pay the $14.99, which will get you a review from Blog Search Engine aside from getting listed on the index. Once you get the confirmation email containing your username and password for the search engine, you will also have the option of upgrading your package to get more links from other blog sites, and even have your banner featured on Blog Search Engine.

Just remember, once you start getting visitors to your site from search engines, it is your job to keep them; so while I urge you to work on the accessibility of your blog, I can’t emphasise enough the importance of having relevant and interesting content that will keep your visitors coming back.

I stay in touch with a number of really interesting people online, and Bob, the owner of JohnCow.com and the MillionEuroWiki, definitely ranks pretty highly on my “interesting meter”.

When he told me about his Million Euro Wiki, I wasn’t too impressed. I bought a page on the Million Dollar Wiki, and wasn’t about to spend another $100 USD on a page on a website, no matter how good it was, but then he and I talked about sweetening the deal, and his iPod Touch giveaway was created.

That’s right, he is giving away a 16GB iPod Touch randomly to one of each 25 page owners. So if you buy a page, you have a 1 in 25 chance of getting an iPod Touch from your purchase. How is that for a return in your investment? Not to mention if the site does really well, and you own a premium page you can resell it to someone else at any time.

Not only that, but I can give you a promotional code that will save you $10 on your purchase of a Million Euro Wiki page, and that’s something I can’t do with its Dollar based counterpart. If you enter xfep into the promotional code area, it should save you $10. Let me know if it doesn’t work, and I will yell at Bob.

Here is a bit about the Million Euro Wiki:

What is the Million Euro Wiki?

A brand new concept that allows users to participate in an exclusive micro-economy. If you purchase a word, you will become the page owner for a one time fee of €75 (or $100) and the page is yours for as long as you want. You have the right to sell your page for a profit at any time and we promise we will not ask you for any commission on it. Page owners are able to setup an online business on their page and benefit from being part of a community that works as a team to bring in traffic and revenue.

Check out the Million Euro Wiki today, and be part of this interesting trend.

In one of the many Link Karma posts on Copyblogger, this blog was mentioned, and even though the link was mixed in with many others on the site, Copyblogger still brought the highest amount of traffic a non-social bookmarking site has brought to date.

With over 250 unique visitors, and a rather noticeable feed subscription boost in the twenty four hours after the link to this blog, I would say that getting mentioned on Copyblogger is pretty powerful, especially for a starting out blog. The visitors were also higher quality than most social bookmarking traffic, having checked out many articles on this site, as well as subscribing to the RSS feed.

A big thanks from me goes out to Brian Clark and the Copyblogger team. And for those of you entering a niche where copywriting is key, let Brian know about what you are writing, and just maybe you will be mentioned.
