Cooking is one of the most relaxing and fulfilling activities that you can engage in. Even those who do not have much cooking experience can gain a lot of benefits spending some time in the kitchen and enjoying the fruits of their labor. For some, cooking is a necessity, but this fact does not necessarily take away from the experience.

One thing is for sure – both the seasoned cook and the newbie has to have access to different recipes and ideas. Naturally, there is the adventure of coming up with your own recipes, but even the best cooks will tell you that inspiration also comes from existing dishes and recipes.

Speaking of inspiration, here is something that will give you some assistance in that area. The newest recipe site in town is here to serve as your most important helper in the kitchen. Recipe Finder is a new search engine that features a host of dishes that anyone can make at home. The advantage of Recipe Finder over other recipe sites is that it offers a collection of over a million recipes found online today. Recipe Finder crawls other recipe sites, doing away with the need of having to check individual sites over and over again. Consider it your one-stop recipe site! And with Recipe Finder regularly checking for new recipes, you are assured that you will always have something to new to discover.

Searching for recipes on Recipe Finder is as easy as pie. You only have to enter the names of recipes or keywords in the search bar. If you have stricter requirements, you can make your search more specific by identifying details such as ingredients (include or exclude them), calorie count, cook time, number of servings, and so on. Furthermore, you have two viewing options: text or images. If you want to get cooking immediately, the former option is perfect. If you want to choose recipes based on how the final product looks, then the latter is ace.

Recipe Finder can help you get organized. It has a built-in menu creator which you can use to plan meals. Whether you are preparing for a normal everyday meal or a special one, the menu feature can make the planning so much easier for you. And if you want to plan meals days or weeks in advance, the calendar function will serve you perfectly. Finally, if you like having printouts of your recipes, you simply have to press the print button on the recipe page.

Ready to start cooking? Visit Recipe Finder now!

So there is something I know fairly well, and it is called burnout. It is a condition where I pile on so much work that my life only resolves around work, and I don’t do anything else. This works for a little while, but eventually, any and all work seems like too much. My relationships suffer, and so does the quality of my work, and I eventually realize that I have taken on too much and begin to scale back.

You might have noticed that posting has been a little slow here, and that is because I am really trying to throw myself into doing work for everyone else. I have since contacted everyone I do freelance work for, and let them know that I just can’t keep it up. I have to focus on the company that pays my bills, and gives me a full time income: Splashpress Media.

Moving away from working on other projects will mean increased quality of work on their sites, as well as this one. Hopefully, you haven’t all left to find someone better to read.

Check out Devlounge, Blog Herald, Blogging Pro, and Forever Geek to read more articles by me.

Incase you hadn’t already noticed or seen, this blog is now owned by Splashpress Media. This might scare some of my readers, but I want you to know that nothing is going to change. It is still me, David Peralty here. I am still working with Grand Effect and their partners to make everything go amazingly on that end as well.

Splashpress Media will allow me to focus more on the writing, and not worry so much about other aspects of running this blog. They also helped me when I was in a financial pinch, so I owe them greatly. I have worked with Splashpress before, and so I am excited to see what they can bring to the table in terms of support. They hold a nice stable of popular blogs on blogging, and this one, while added to their stable, won’t be lost in the crowd. I have ideas and articles that I will be publishing that will focus on the things I have been learning, and feel bad that I’ve been giving out so many opinion posts that might not have been to your best benefit as of late.

My excuse is lame: I’ve been busy. But I want to thank you all for being so helpful, so patient, and I owe you all so much.

I want to thank Splashpress Media for their help, and if you have stuck around for the last two months, you’ve already seen the changes that Splashpress Media has made, and so this announcement will hopefully not change anything from your perspective.

Recently, over on BrandingDavid.com I have gone ahead and added a members-only area to the site where I will be working closely with 50 registered members on building up their business, making more money, and learning the ways of blog-fu.

Here are some details from the Premium Partners launch post:

I currently bill myself out at around $120 per hour, depending on the needs of the client, and so I have priced the members area aggressively at only $10 per month, or $120 per year. Those purchasing a full year in advance will also get an hour of consulting. That means, if you buy a minimum of one hour of consulting time, you also gain entry into the member area.

What do members get that normal readers of this blog do not?

Premium content similar to other things I’ve written here

Actionable information that can’t be found elsewhere

Tips, tricks and advice from me and other members

Information on tools that I use

Guides and techniques I won’t post anywhere else

Members only podcasts, videocasts, live Ustream video sessions and screencasts

It is already doing rather well as new members continue to sign up and get the help they want and need. The best part about getting in early is two fold. First off, you’ll get to help shape the content and get even more personal attention, and secondly, in February 2009, I will be raising the entry rates, and so those that join today will keep their current membership rates.

Come check out the Branding David Premium Partners area and if you don’t enjoy what you get out of it, then you can cancel at any time.

As many of you have noticed, we have had some hiccups in moving the site from one server to another, but this move was necessary, and we will hopefully have things back to one hundred percent soon.

The first issue was we lost some comments, then I couldn’t publish posts due to a JavaScript error that would basically make my browser freeze for about two minutes before letting me stop the script, and then I couldn’t manage comments at all.

It reminded me of why I like moving WordPress blogs in a very specific way. Export from within WordPress, break down the export file into import files no larger than about 3-5MB, create a new WordPress blog on the new host, import the content, and move over the wp-content folder that includes images and plugins.

Of course you’ll be missing out on various settings and whatnot, but I have found this to be one of the quickest and cleanest ways to transition a WordPress blog over. It does come with its own set of problems sometimes, but I’ve had very few issues with it.

Anyone else have some WordPress moving tips? Let me know in the comments below.

I have been working on BrandingDavid.com for a little while now trying to flesh out the consulting side of my business, but one thing I am learning is that in this economy, no one has $120 per hour to spend on learning blogging, online marketing, SEO and whatnot, and so I have been working on alternative plans.

Another thing someone pointed out to me is “why pay for your services when I have your blogging efforts as a great resource?”

This question took me back a little as I have given as much of my knowledge as I can over the last year of running this site especially, and if you are willing to dig around there are some amazing insights, at least I think so, but it might not be presented in a way that you can easily apply, and that is where I see myself getting most of my business, from breaking down the concepts that seem so simple to me, but don’t quite make sense in other people’s minds.

As for traffic, the site is only getting around two to five percent of what this blog is getting, and that is mostly due to my lack of promotion. I am not pushing that site as hard as I did this site, and because of that, I am seeing a much slower growth curve, but that doesn’t really concern me at this point.

The content distinction lines between this site and that site are very fine, and in creating it, I realized how much I enjoy talking about what I do as a career, the industry I am in, and the software I enjoy using.

If you haven’t launched a blog lately, give it a try, and see if it stretches you too thin, or if you enjoy writing on it. Passion for one topic can sometimes spill over into another, and BrandingDavid has reminded me how much I enjoy posting here as well.

Over the last few months, I have been fortunate enough to speak at two different events, and in doing so, I only increased my interest in speaking, training, consulting and teaching and so I have decided to build out a new blog called Branding David.

This blog won’t change, and will continue to talk about blogging, and building out blogs, advertising and podcasting, but on Branding David, I will talk about owning a small business, working for others, consulting, speaking at conferences and events, as well as other things that I have been interested in writing about, and never had a platform to do so.

If you enjoy this blog, I hope you will check out Branding David and let me know what you think of it.

Some posts that I have already written that people seem to enjoy include:

So over the weekend, while I was away, the site was moved from one server to another, and in doing so, it caused some posts and some comments to disappear, and thanks to some issues with WordPress, I haven’t been able to import them properly on the new host. I think that importing doesn’t work as well due to the post revisions saved in the database. Not sure if it is a known issue or not, but I hope to get it all sorted out soon. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t comment, please feel free to interact as normal, as the importing of comments and whatnot shouldn’t negatively effect any comments and whatnot from anyone else.

If you hadn’t previously heard, I started my own list of ranking blogs about blogging, and there was a bit of a Google PageRank update lately, and so I have updated all of the rankings to display the most recent results. I have been pretty consistent about updating the Uber Blog List about twice a week, so you are always getting the best results.

I am thinking of tweaking it though as currently, each of the rankings are equally weighted to give a final score to place people. I am also thinking of capping it at fifty sites, so that only the top fifty are displayed, though much more would be tracked, but not displayed, in order to link to the best sites consistently.

Check out the Uber Blog List and let me know what you think. If you aren’t on the list, please add your site, and if it fits in with the topic of blogs about blogging, then I will add it to be ranked.

For the longest time now, I have been getting frustrated with a top blog list that I enjoy watching as it continued to focus on the making money online aspect, while I continually moved away from that world. Making money online is great, but I am a blogger, and what I know is blogging, and so that is why I decided to build my own list around blogging blogs called Uber Blogs.

This list will be comprised of blogs that focus on blogging, the blogging industry and teaching others to become better bloggers. It won’t focus on blogging software, nor specifically making money online. It won’t focus on affiliate offers, niche sites, or online advertising.

While there are already a few blogs in the list that span more than one niche, I want to say that the Uber Blogs list will make exceptions based on my own personal feelings when reviewing the blogs.

If you would like to include your blog on the list, there is a short form at the bottom of the list to quickly apply. I will review submissions at least once a week, and the rankings will be updated at least two times a week.

I hope you will all enjoy the Uber Blogs list, and appreciate it as a quick way to find blogs that can improve your blogging skill.
