Oh--do you mean how Craigs and bid sites have turned writing into a white collar Rust Belt? Yes, I have noticed that.

I've seen a general increase in job numbers being advertised on my job boards - this could be that the boards are becoming more widely known though so it's hard to know.

Hmmm, not over here... income keeps on growing, and my guess is that it won't stop till the year is over.

It is true. With outsourcing and the emergence of popular sites like Elance and many others, writers and bloggers are easily and inexpensively available for hire. This is the reason why people are hiring from these places and avoiding seasoned bloggers. You will ask for $100 to write a review; they will get it done for $10. I am afraid this trend will only get worse.

Short answer: No.

Longer Answer: There are alot of bloggers that were able to find positions when the economy was flush that perhaps weren't cut out for writing, podcasting, etc... now that the economy is tightening up they're the first ones feeling the pain in the blogosphere.

(and by both answers above I mean writing / blogging jobs for others)

(I also don't mean the particular poster on hive that started that thread when I stated the above)

Advertising wise - it's a tougher market for everyone - and I don't think anyone really sees any major improvement in the near term - 2nd/3rd quarter 09 is the best estimate I'm seeing right now.
