I couldn't agree with you more. I've been having the very same thought for quite some time now - everythings beginning to look the same.

When something a bit different does come along, it's rather sad to note that they are invariably designated as 'premium' and involve a (not always unworthy) not-very-cheap fee. And that's what I see the problem being nowadays - too many people only interested in developing something if there's a financial reward to be had.

I know the argument has been made for and against many times already, but for what it's worth, I think it's a bit of a piss-take making money on the back of something like WordPress which is given away gratis. Yes, some (and only some) of the themes MAY warrant some kind of financial reward, but there's an awful lot of 'premium' stuff out there that's anything but premium.

On the other hand (see, I can be fair and objective), if some of the 'premium' stuff was given away in return for a donation or something, I'd imagine the leechers who never donate anything would outnumber the donators a hundred, if not a thousand, fold.

Nevertheless, we don't all have £50-100 to chuck at every nice new theme that's released. I see the point were the premium market stagnates approaching pretty soon. Unless I've got it completely wrong and I'm the only poor person around.

After saying all that though, am I the only one that's starting to think that even the premium themes are all beginning to look the same too? If I see yet another 'magazine' styled premium theme release, I think I'll scream.

All of which I've just said is probably a bit ironic given that your blog is about making money. I just wish some moneymakers would remember there's only so much of it to go around, sometimes.
