Protecting your business computers is about more than just protecting your business and your money, it’s also about protecting your client’s information. If you don’t have the right software and the right security measures set into place, you risk your information and your clients information. Hackers love to steal things, from credit card information to Social Security numbers, and the only way to protect this information is to make sure you have the right security measures in place, safe shopping for your customers, and of course using encryption software.
This may seem like a lot of work, especially for a business that’s already busy, but it is extremely important and there are plenty of companies out there that are willing to help. It’s just a matter of finding the right software for you and for your clients in order to protect everyone’s interests.
Using Encryption Software
Hiring a company to encrypt your communications, or using encryption software, is really important to protect emails that you’re sending out, whether they are business-to-business or business-to-customer. The other businesses you work with, and your customers, will really appreciate the protection and care that you put into dealing with them.
When you’re sending emails that aren’t encrypted, anyone can read them. However if they are encrypted the only person that will be able to read them is the person they were meant for.
Picking Better Passwords
Personal accounts or business accounts, people need to learn to pick better passwords. Some sites give you a specific amount of letters, numbers, and maybe even request that you use a capital letter here and there, and maybe even an exclamation point, or something. Some, are case sensitive and others won’t let you use dashes or question mark question marks.
Don’t be generic, and don’t use numbers or words that someone you know could guess. This will keep many people out of your accounts. It also helps to change up passwords from one account to the next, and to change your passwords every once in awhile.
Setting Up Safe Shopping
If you sell products or services on your website, make sure that you have a secure shopping cart and payment system setup. You want people to feel safe buying from you online. when they see the HTTPS rather than just HTTP, they know that their purchases will be more protected.
Security Measures That Protect
Not only do you want to follow the above measures, but you need to make sure that your computer is protected by antivirus software and even malware software, which are two different things. Both will protect you and your computer, and your customers. Antivirus protects your computer from getting a virus, which let hackers in. Malware protection will keep your computer from having adware, which creates annoying pop-ups and other things that can damage your computer, and also let hackers in.
