Google PageRank

One thing that happened recently that I am proud to report is that this blog went from a PageRank of 4, which is relatively easy to get, to a harder rank of 5. I am unsure if I can continue to grow the site to reach the upper echelons of the PageRank 6 crowd, but it is possible. It probably won’t happen for at least another year or so, but I am fine with that. I am excited that Google deemed this site worthy of a 5!

Top 100 List

As things continue to improve, especially thanks to my PageRank jump, I am now deep into the Top 40 of Mark’s 45n5.com Top 100 Make Money Online blogs. I am currently sitting at number 34. I am thinking of doing another round of crazy promotion to get into the top 30, but we will see. I am very busy right now. I have to admit to being surprised. I had always wanted to be in the top 100, and then in the top 50, and now I am striking distance away from the top 25. Though getting there would see me trying to surpass Garry Conn and Jim Kukral.

Subscribers

Where is everyone going? Come back! So, I have slowed down in posting a little lately, mostly because I feel a little disenfranchised with blogging as a whole. I think I need to run away on vacation. The Feedburner RSS stats seems to reflect this as my readership dropped by over fifty in the last ten days.

Hopefully, I can turn things around as I refocus and try to get a normal routine going again. Don’t tell my wife, but I blame her for my lack of focus lately…

Back in My Groove

So now that we are heading into March, I am even more determined to get back into my blogging groove on here. I still have many things I want to teach everyone, as well as some great new things I have learned over the past few weeks.

If you have been wondering what’s going on with this blog, the answer is that I have been busy with the Northern Voice conference, and working on jump starting Blogging Weight, and all the activities that go along with getting healthier. I won’t get preachy about making fitness a priority on here, so you’ll have to go check out that site for more details on what I am doing to get fit.

Also, Splashpress Media has been eating up tons of time as we slowly get ready for the big WordPress 2.5 upgrade coming late in March. I hope to have many details on here with regards to how the upgrade goes.

If you haven’t subscribed, now would be a great time to do so. I also recommend my Super Feed which tracks me everywhere I blog. If you want to keep track of all my posts on Forever Geek, Blog Herald, Blogging Pro, Devlounge, Blogging Weight, DavidCubed and here, I highly recommend you all subscribe.

Here is looking forward to a great spring for all of us in the northern hemisphere.

Changes Happening: Please Standby

So, as you can see, this blog is sporting a fancy new design, and is now part of a new network of established blogs being brought together by Sarah Perez of SarahinTampa called Grand Effect. The name was mine, but I am more than happy to see it being used in such a great way.

I hope you will all join in welcoming the member sites of Grand Effect by checking out their sites, linked on the header banner.

Things will be continuing to change over the coming days and weeks as I merge the needs of my blog with the design that Elena, a great friend and amazing designer, created for this blog. A huge thanks to Design Disease.

I will have so much more on the network, the design, and many more new posts on blogging, problogging, networking, and WordPress in the coming weeks.

Thanks to everyone for their patience, and I hope you enjoy the new design and the features that will soon follow.

Diversification and Me

You have probably all heard the saying “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”, and that holds true with working on the web. Never work for just one company, even if they are willing to pay you full time. Do as I have done, and make sure you have some projects of your own to fall back on, just in case. Never work on just one blog, as Google can be fickle and destroy the traffic, and thus revenue of a blog overnight. Never invest all your money in one idea, as there can be unforeseen complications that can ruin you.

It is with this in mind that I will be expanding my own blogging related business to include some new sites that will be launched very shortly. I am on the hunt for writers, and I am bringing my wife in to help with the book keeping and scouting talent.

If you are interested in writing for me, please use my contact form and send me links to samples of your work, as well as some details about yourself, your expertise, your passions, your contact details and lastly your current rates for 250 word news coverage posts (where you add your opinion to a quoted piece of text), and a 500-1000 word original article.

I will be setting a fair bit of time aside for these projects, from promotion, management and even training. If you want to learn from me and my experiences, working with me would be the best way to do that, so if you are interested, please apply.
